2010 Camaro SS Best Car for Dads & Grads

2010 Chevrolet Chevy Camaro
It only seems fitting that as we begin to kick-off the summer, we start celebrating two hardworking groups of people: Fathers and graduates. With all the long hours they put in and sacrifices they make, a reward is well-deserved. What better reward to give than a new car? To ease the process for those looking for the perfect car for their dad or grad, NADAguides.com, the leader in vehicle pricing and information, has identified its list of the "Best Cars for Dads and Grads" in five of today's hottest vehicle segments.

Sports Cars

Nothing ignites the soul of an auto enthusiast like a spirited drive in a sports car. For dads, the 2010 Camaro SS will do the trick in more ways than one. The Camaro blends the tire-melting performance of a 426 hp 6.2L V8 with styling straight from the late 1960s, the golden era of the American muscle car, at an amazing starting price of just $30,245.

Performance isn't reserved for the wealthy, as evidenced by the $22,000 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 2.0T. The 210 hp turbocharged 4-cylinder puts its power down through the rear wheels, which leaves it in a class all by itself. With a relatively low curb weight of about 3,300 pounds and a sport tuned suspension, the Genesis Coupe continues to thrill when the road gets curvy.

Hybrids

Dads concerned about fuel prices and the environment will love the EPA rated 41 city/36 hwy mpg 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid. Starting at $27,270, the Fusion Hybrid is loaded with technology, including voice-activated navigation with SYNC and Ford's SmartGauge with EcoGuide that manages to make economical driving fun.

For years the high price of hybrid technology has kept hybrid vehicles out of reach for most graduates, but the 2010 Honda Insight aims to change that. With a starting price of $19,800 the Insight provides a practical and affordable way to get 40 city/ 43 hwy mpg while making a strong social statement.

Crossovers

Dad deserves to be comfortable. With a standard tri-zone climate control and available heated and cooled leather seats, the 2010 Buick Enclave is certainly up to the task. The starting price is around $35,000 and an estimated 24 mpg on the highway also makes this luxurious crossover very affordable.

Starting at $21,245 the 2009 Honda CR-V is the perfect vehicle for the active graduate. Plenty of cargo room and available four-wheel drive add to the go anywhere, do anything attitude while great gas mileage figures of 20 city/ 27 hwy mpg keep operating costs low.

Convertibles

There's really nothing like driving with the top down, and for the dad who enjoys some sportiness to go along with it the 2009 Porsche Boxster S is an excellent choice. Porsche's renowned driving dynamics and a silky-smooth 310 hp flat 6-cylinder engine create an incredible driving experience that is further enhanced by the "wind through the hair" sensation. The $56,700 starting price might seem steep, but is a small price to pay for such a legendary machine.

Most recent gradates' love for the 2010 Ford Mustang is eclipsed by only one thing: their love for the Mustang Convertible. The 210 hp 26 mpg highway V6 results in a practical and fun-to-drive car that starts at only $25,995 and the classic styling ensures they'll never go unnoticed.

Trucks

Whether dedicated to work or fun, Dad can't go wrong with the 2009 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD. The 3,458 pound hauling capacity takes care of the work and the 13,000 pound towing capacity handles the fun. Whether in 6.0L gasoline or 6.6L turbo diesel trim, the Silverado 2500 continues to be one of the most capable and dependable trucks on the road.

In rear-wheel drive format with the 159 hp 2.7L 4-cylinder engine, the 2009 Toyota Tacoma can accommodate nearly any budget with a low starting price of $15,170. Any graduate will love the utility and rugged looks of the Tacoma, while parents will undoubtedly appreciate its reliability and five-star front and side crash test ratings.

Evanston Subaru is relocating to Skokie, IL in July 2009. The new dealership will be Subaru of America's largest facility in the Chicago metro market.

The building will be approximately 25,000 square feet on four acres of land and the number of employees is expected to increase to accommodate the new, larger location within the year. The facility will be located at 3340 Oakton Street in Skokie, IL 60076.

Subaru Superstore of Chandler, AZ

Subaru Superstore of Chandelr, AZThe Subaru Superstore of Chandler is slated to open November 2009 and will be staffed with thirty to thirty-five new employees.

"For us to make a $10m plus investment decision to build a new dealership in today's environment, the brand had to be right for the market," says Bud Thurston, co-owner of the Subaru Superstore of Chandler. "Quite frankly, Subaru offers the complete package of what customers want... an incredible vehicle at a great price, uncompromised safety, long-term dependability, and a focused commitment to doing what's right for the environment. When you're the only automobile brand realizing sales gains in 2008, you're doing everything right. Subaru definitely gets it by delivering the perfect products at a tremendous value that connects with the market."

"We congratulate Bud Thurston and Richard Cvijanovich on the pending opening this year of the Subaru Superstore in Chandler," says Tony Graziano, southwest regional vice president for Subaru of America, Inc. "Their track record of providing excellent customer service is something that will be key in our expansion in this market. With the Subaru Forester named the Motor Trend Sport/Utility of the Year(TM) and all Subaru vehicles rated as Top Safety Picks, with very high residual values - we continue to gain market share in the Phoenix area. It is the right time to expand and we are with a conveniently located, state-of-the-art facility. We look forward to a long and successful relationship."

The 15 Best Family Cars Of 2009

Parents magazine and Edmunds.com today revealed their annual list of Best Family Cars. Having tested essentially every vehicle in the marketplace, the experts selected 15 top models — three each in the budget, crossover, minivan, sedan and SUV categories. Each car was judged on safety, performance, interior, exterior and family friendly features.

In addition to analyzing, test-driving, and comparing specs, Parents/Edmunds.com took into account feedback from parents who own and drive these vehicles every day. All of the cars on the list are budget friendly — five start at under $20,000 and one checks in at under $15,000.

"If your family is in the market for a new car, now is actually a good time because steep dealer discounts make this a buyer's market. This list plus our money saving car shopping tips will empower you with all the information you'll need," said Dana Points, editor-in-chief of Parents.

It’s not only been the best selling truck in America, it’s been the best selling vehicle in America for most of the last 30 years.

Baseball, hot dogs, apple pie and Ford F150’s, baby.

This truly is America’s truck so when the engineers and designers at Ford set out to revamp the F150 for 2009, you’d expect that they would tread lightly. If your cash cow ain't broke, don’t fix it.

In the looks department, the new 2009 F150 takes its styling cues from the Ford Super Duty line with a higher, bolder more macho front end and grill.

The more important changes some under the hood. The F150 earned its bones on durability and towing capacity but has traditionally come up a little short on quickness and engine strength, especially since the imports have started breaking into the big truck business. the 2009 F150 packs three slightly more powerful engine options than the 2008 and comes with a standard 5 speed and optional six speed transmission to provide a little more jump out of the gate.

Edmunds says the F-150 still can't touch a Tundra in a stoplight drag race, but it no longer feels lethargic. More importantly, it boasts massive towing and hauling capacities along with slightly improved fuel economy.

The 2009 F150 comes in a head swimming array of trim levels including the rollin on 20’s Platinum level, a 6 inch super-ER Super Crew and work trucks with hidden goody boxes, RF tool tracking and in dash computers with internet access. If you can’t find the big truck you're looking for in the F150 lineup, you must not be looking for a big truck.
